Chaitanya Chiguru-Achieve before you die
The 'Chaitanya Chiguru-2025' Residential Summer Camp for Degree students was conducted in two batches on May 12th - May 13th & June 28th to June 29th 2025, at Chaitanya, Shimoga.
The camp was formally inaugurated at 12:00 PM, in the presence of esteemed guests, including Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza, resource person, Rev. Fr. Pius D'souza and Mrs. Anie, Coordinator of ICDP.
The symbolic inauguration was led by Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza and Rev. Fr. Pius D'Souza, who unveiled the Chaitanya Chiguru emblem, marking the commencement of this meaningful initiative. As a part of the event, paper cuttings were placed, emphasizing the core values: Use polite words, Listen carefully, Be honest, Respect everyone, Do your best, Think Positive, Empathy and Gratitude.
Following the inauguration, Mrs. Anie addressed the students, outlining the camp's rules and regulations. She encouraged them to participate with enthusiasm and to make the most of the sessions, emphasizing the importance of personal growth, transformation, and goal achievement through the experience.
Mrs. Anie with the help of volunteers Mr. Joe Simon, Mr. Sushanth Cristopher and Mr. Sunil organized five groups of students, engaging them with action songs and preparing them for the unique session led by Rev. Fr. Edwin D' Souza. During the session, he encouraged all the students to introduce themselves, reflect on their experiences, and share their achievements. This activity helped them gain confidence in speaking before a crowd and expressing themselves. Moreover, it fostered a sense of community, allowing everyone to learn about each other's backgrounds, aspirations, and individual accomplishments. Each student proved to be unique in their own way.
Following this, Fr. Edwin arranged the students into groups and shared a story about a cow and a pig. He explained how people cherish the cow while it is alive because it provides milk, yet once a pig has passed, every part of it is utilized, despite being disregarded and chased away when alive. He emphasized that the cow is valued in life, whereas the pig is only appreciated after death. His core messages to the students was clear—make the most of your life while you are alive, strive for great achievements, do well and leave a meaningful mark in the society.
