“Equality isn’t a request, it’s a necessity

On 24 March 2025, Monday, Hosanagara Streebandhu Federations with the collaboration of The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society® (SMSSS) organized an International Women's Day program at the Ediga Community Hall Hosanagar. The program was inaugurated by the Honorable Shri Gopalakrishna Belur MLA Sagar and Hosanagar Vidhan Sabha Constituency, President Karnataka State Forest Industries Development Corporation, who addressed the gathering saying, said that the government has formulated special schemes for women to take up self-employment. A new program has been implemented to form women's associations under the Akka scheme. Loan facilities are available at low interest rates. The guarantee schemes that have already been implemented have led to improving the economy of women. If women's organizations are strong, government schemes will be more helpful in reaching women beneficiaries. In this regard, he congratulated the organization for being involved in the development of the women and working tirelessly to improve their standards. He also spoke words of encouragement to women be achievers in life.

Rev. Fr Pius D'Souza, the director of SMSSS, presided over the programme. In his address he said that the organization is working hard for the development of women and children through SHGs. Organizing various trainings and workshops for women for their empowerment is being done constantly. Furthermore development activities will be undertaken in the future.

Ms Medhini Kesavinamane, Assistant Professor of Kodachadri College, praised the service to women in family life and gave a special session on their saving attitude. 650 women members of the federations of Jeni, Kodur, M. Guddekoppa, Sonale, Ramachandrapura participated in the programme. The coordinator and animators of SMSSS were present in the programme.
