Chaitanya, Shimoga, November 01, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava at Chaitanya on 01 November 2019. Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of the diocese of Shimoga and the President of SMSSS presided over the celebration. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the director of SMSSS welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance knowing more about the culture in which we live and work. Dr B. S Talwadi was the resource person for the day.

The bishop spoke about what is culture and how all our activities, actions are linked to the culture of the place and how some of our actions become anti cultural actions. He also noted that the celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava is an occasion to know more about the culture of State and of the Language.

The resource person, Dr B. S. Talwadi enlightened the participants on the richness of cultural heritage and how the actions of a group eventually turn out to be the culture of the place. He also explained the background of certain festivals like Deepavali, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. Through folk songs, folklore he communicated the message and urged the participants to work for unity and build a community of love discarding hatred. The staff of SMSSS, 57 in number, were happy to know more about the culture in which they live and work. The seminar was concluded at 4.30 pm.
