The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society (SMSSS) hosted a one-day camp on 16th October 2024 at the SMSSS Chaitanya campus under the Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP). The event aimed to raise awareness about parenting, child development, and community engagement, attracting an enthusiastic turnout of 151 parents and 176 children from the local community.

Ms. Amrutha hosted the program, which began with a warm welcome by Mr. David. A heartfelt prayer song performed by the children followed, invoking God's grace within the community. The children then showcased their creativity, setting a joyful tone for the day. Mrs. Stella, Mrs. Vathsala, and Mrs. Jyothi Vas creatively prepared for the inauguration.

Mrs. Gracy, ICDP staff and formar ICDP beneficiary, inaugurated the child development camp, urging parents and students to remember their donors in their prayers and to dream big. She encouraged parents and children to be more active and enthusiastic about learning new things. She highlighted the Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP) as a vital initiative aimed at providing underprivileged children with access to quality education.

Fr. Pius D'Souza, Director of SMSSS, began his speech with an action song to energize the gathering and then delivered an inspiring address centered on parental and children's responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of instilling financial literacy in children by encouraging parents to save small amounts daily, even as little as one rupee. He urged parents to foster strong connections with the ICDP staff to create a supportive environment conducive to child development.

Mrs. Madhura, the resource person for the program, involved all the parents in the "Guess the Name" game and then led an engaging session that emphasized the significance of self-confidence in parents and children. She encouraged parents to dedicate time and effort to nurture their children's potential and concluded her session with a motivating video that underscored the theme of self-confidence.

Mrs. Gracy also reiterated the importance of establishing connections with the ICDP staff, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of the event. She engaged all the children in games and action songs.

The program concluded with positive feedback from participants, underscoring the value of such initiatives in promoting community engagement and enhancing child welfare. All the participants enjoyed a delicious lunch and sweets and left the campus with hearts full of gratitude and beautiful smiles.
