The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society (SMSSS) recently hosted a successful one-day camp for parents and children as part of the Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP) at Christ the King School, Jog falls, attracting 56 children and 48 parents from the community.
The event featured prominent figures, including Fr. Salvador Rodrigues, the parish priest of Christ the King Church, Jogfalls, Fr. Pius D'Souza, the director of SMSSS, Sr. Veera USF, Sr. Shweta USF, and other distinguished guests. Ms. Jennifer Pinto served as the host, guiding attendees through the day's activities. The program kicked off with a warm welcome from Ms. Ancilla, followed by a creative inauguration led by Mrs. Martha.
Fr. Salvador delivered an inspiring speech focused on goal setting and dreaming big, reinforcing the importance of life values. He concluded his address with an engaging action song that energized the audience.
Fr. Pius D'Souza then addressed the parents, stressing the significance of saving just one rupee daily, planning for career counselling and aptitude tests, and fostering strong connections with ICDP staff.
Mrs. Annie led a discussion on adolescent health education, highlighting essential concepts such as good touch and bad touch, while also encouraging the importance of aspiring high.
Mr. Shanmukha, the resource person of the day, conducted a session on self-confidence, discussing the detrimental effects of negative parental thoughts on children. His session concluded with a thought-provoking video presentation.
In an inspiring message, Fr. Pius D'Souza encouraged the children to be not only beneficiaries of the program but also benefactors, promoting active and creative engagement within their communities.
