Shikaripura, June 24, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society under Streebandhu Federation, Shikaripura organized a training on self employment and awareness on 'Arivu' loan scholarship from the State Minority Commission on 20 June 2019 for 30 women of Alamina and Noorani Self Help Groups. Mr Hazmat Ullah, Shimoga District Manager of Karnataka Minority Development Corporation was the resource person. First he spoke about what is self employment, what are the advantages and possibilities of self employment, etc. The participants in two groups discussed about the various possibilities of self employment. The resource person also explained to the participants about the support women from minority communities can get for self employment. The participants were convinced that through self employment the family income could be increased.
The resource person also spoke about 'Arivu' loan scholarship available from the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation Limited. He said that under this scheme, Religious minority students who are desirous for pursuing professional courses like Medical, Engineering, Dental, Master Degree Courses, Diploma Courses, Nursing, B.Ed, BBM, BCA, D.Ed, D-pharma, Pharma-D and ITI are provided Loan assistance ranging from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 75,000/- per year till completion of the course. The resource person urged the participants to make the best use of the scheme. Mrs. Chaya Shivanand, the animator for the area organized the training programme.
