Honnali & Nyamati, June 12, 2019: The members of Streebandhu Federations of Honnali and Nyamati visited Sahyadri Community Development and Women Empowerment Society (SCODWES) as part of the exposure programme under Ujjivana-Phase II project of Caritas India, supported by Misereor and implemented by the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in the villages of Honnali and Nyamati in the District of Davanagere.

The main purpose of the exposure visit was to learn more about self-employment, group employment, organic farming, backyard garden, organic manure, use of jeevamrutha, how to improve the quality of vermicompost, what is the best fodder for cows and chicken, formation of Farmers' JLGs, mobile health clinics, difference between organic vegetables and chemical fertilizer used vegetables, the difference in the price of both vegetables, the positives of group employment, etc.

The members felt that they need to update themselves. The visit was an eye opener for all. Though all the participants of the exposure visit team are already cultivating organic vegetables or are into some kind of self employment, the visit will help them to improve their own business and increase their family income. The Coordinator of the project Mr Shanmukha Naik and the animators Mrs. Lilly Lopes and Mrs Shobha accompanied the team. The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society remains grateful to the President, Secretary and the staff at the SCODWES for welcoming the visiting team and sparing their valuable time to educate the team and share their expertise with the visitors.
