Chaitanya, Shimoga, February 04, 2021: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society®, Shimoga observed World Cancer Day 2021 with various activities in different places throughout Shimoga and Davanagere Districts. A total of 15 programmes were organized in different areas where 1117 peoples participated.
Cancer awareness and detection camp was organized at Chaitanya, where Dr Divya Shanthi D’Sa explained in detail about cancer, the causes, how one can reduce the risk when diagnosed at a early stage, what precautions one should take, etc. Dr Tabseera Parveen Muktesar explained about the possibilities of oral cancer. After the awareness both the doctors conducted the health checkup. 146 persons benefitted from the camp.
At Kanle, Sagar, Dr Ranjitha gave awareness on Cancer after which health checkup was done. At Kumkova, Dr Anitha gave the awareness and conducted health checkup.
Cleanliness drive was organized at Sagar, while rally against the use of plastic was organized at Ragigudda. Cancer awareness rally and cleanliness drive was organized at Kotegangur, Shimoga.
In Bhadravathi training was organized on organic farming to provide awareness on how excessive use of chemical fertilizers can cause health issues in human beings.
Cancer awareness programme was organized at Shikaripura where Dr Shrinivas explained to the participants the possible causes of cancer.
