Shimoga, July 30, 2021: The fight against COVID-19 still continues. The second wave of the pandemic has hit the world and especially India very badly. The number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases is skyrocketing. Several people are losing their battle against the deadly disease. The lockdown is imposed this year as well. Amidst all this the plight of the poor is increasing. Poor people who depend on their daily earnings for their survival continue to face difficulties due to unforeseen developments. True to its mission the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society pressed itself into action a second time to address the current situation of hunger and helplessness caused by COVID-19.

This year till date the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society has supplied essential food items kits containing rice, dal, cooking oil, sugar, wheat flour, sambar powder, chilli powder, tea powder, etc. to 3100 families and medical support to 600 families in the three districts of Shimoga, Chitradurga and Davanagere.

Apart from the support by way of dry ration kits and medical support, the organization has organized webinars on topics like, “Resilience of Mind amid Covid,” “Covid-19 Crisis Management,” “Self Employment Opportunities and the Possible Support,” “Mental Health and Education amid Covid,” “Know Your Career,” etc. More than 2000 families from different parts of India benefitted from these Webinars.

The organization also organized Covid-19 awareness programmes through which people were instructed to follow Covid-18 guidelines strictly. This way the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society has played its own role in everyone’s fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
