Chaitanya, Shimoga, August 09, 2023: The Thirty Fourth Annual General Body Meeting of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, Shimoga was held on 09 August 2023 at Chaitanya, Shimoga. The meeting began at 9.30 AM with prayer led by Rev. Fr George K.A. Mr William D’Souza welcomed the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary and all the members of the General Body. The President of SMSSS, Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ presided over the meeting. All the members were present for the meeting. The president declared the meeting legal as there was the required quorum.
After passing the minutes of the Thirty Third Annual General Body Meeting, the Secretary of SMSSS, Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto presented the annual report of the Governing Board of SMSSS for the year 2022-23. The Report was presented under the following heads: (1) Women Empowerment; (2) Education and Development; (3) Natural Resource Management; (4) Good Governance; (5) Health and Development and (6) Capacity Building.
All the members appreciated the hard work and the meticulous planning and systematic execution of the work of the Society. The success stories presented are impressive and motivating. A large number of poor families are benefiting from the programmes. It was proposed that we undertake timely evaluation of all our activities. With positive observations Rev. Msgr Felix Joseph Noronha proposed that the annual report of SMSSS for the year 2022-23 be accepted and Sr Theresa Mascarenhas SCB seconded the same. The members adopted the annual report unanimously.
After the presentation of the annual report the Secretary presented the audited statement of accounts for the year 2022-23. Rev. Fr Stany D’Souza proposed that the audited statement of accounts comprising of the Receipts and Payments Account, the Income and Expenditure Account and the Balance Sheet be accepted. Mrs Babitha Marina D’Sa seconded the same. The members present adopted the audited statement of accounts unanimously.
In his presidential address Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ appreciated the remarkable work of the Society and noted that the organisation is put on very strong financial base as well as activities are systematically executed. 4105 people have availed Government Schemes. 2084 economically poor children are supported for their education under ICDP. Leadership has moved on to another level as more and more women as emerging as leaders. The enormous number of trainings conducted for different groups of people is an indication that the organisation is empowering people to be the leaders tomorrow. He also noted that through Save A Family Plan activities the families are able to improve their status in the society. Audit of SHGs is an indication that the members are secured of their savings. He praised the committed, transparent hard work of the Secretary and the commitment of the Staff and wished all of them all the very best. Rev. Sr Theresa Mascarenhas SCB thanked everyone, especially the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary and all who toiled for the success of the meeting. The meeting ended with the concluding prayer led by Rev. Sr Marie Evelyn AC.
