Shimoga, August 24, 2023: The Annual General Body Meeting of the Streebandhu Multipurpose Souharda Co-operative Limited was held on 24 August 2023 in Agamudi Convention Hall, Alkola Circle, Sagar Road, Shimoga. The Annual General Body Meeting was presided over by Mrs Precilla Martis, the president of the Streebandhu Multipurpose Souharda Co-operative Limited. The meeting began at 10.00 AM with prayer. The president announced that 501 members have already signed the attendance register and declared that there is the required quorum for the meeting.
Mrs Gloria Jyothi Furtado, one of the directors of the Streebandhu welcomed the President, the Vice-President, the Board of Directors, the staff of both Streebandhu & SMSSS and all the members. A special welcome was accorded to the students who were present to receive the honors for excelling in the SSLC and PUC exams. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Chief Executive Officer of the Streebandhu Co-operative read the notice of the Annual General Body Meeting which was unanimously approved by the entire gathering. After presenting the minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting of 2021-22, the Chief Executive Officer presented the annual report for the year 2022-23, audited statement of accounts for the year 2022-23 and the proposed annual budget for 2023-24 for approval. The proceedings of the meetings were unanimously approved and duly recorded. The highlight of the report is the net annual profit during the financial year 2022-23 which stood at Rs 1,33,36,137.88
The Streebandhu Multipurpose Souharda Co-operative Limited is on the verge of completing 10 successful years of its existence. The Chief Executive Officer informed that the total number of members as on 31 March 2023 is 10,353 and the associate members are 242. The members appreciated the progress the Streebandhu has made over the years. All the members were overjoyed to receive the good news that the Streebandhu Board of Directors have approved 10% dividend this year for the shares all the members are holding in the Streebandhu Co-operative. The General Body unanimously approved the proposal. A provision of Rs 10,00,000/- is set aside from this year’s profit for various activities which will be conducted to mark the decennial celebration of the Streebandhu Co-operative. All the members will receive a gift from the Streebandhu Co-operative. It was informed that the decennial celebration will be held in November or December 2023.
In her presidential address Mrs Precilla Martis appreciated and thanked the members for their wholehearted support and cooperation and urged them to work for the progress of Streebandhu with much more commitment. The Chief Executive Officer in his address highlighted the progress of the Co-operative and noted that Streebandhu is offering better rate of interests for the savings and requested members to think of saving some amount regularly which will help them during their difficult times.
36 meritorious children of the members of the Streebandhu who had excelled in the SSLG and PUC exams conducted in the years 2022 and 2023 were honoured after the Annual General Body Meeting. The Bishop of Shimoga and the President of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, Shimoga, Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ and Mr A. R. Prasanna Kumar, Vice-President of the Karnataka State Souharda Federal Co-operative Limited were the Chief Guests who honoured the meritorious students. In his address the Bishop congratulated the students and their parents and stated that all have to try to achieve something in life. He also appreciated the progress of the Streebandhu Cooperative and noted that this Cooperative should grow more and more and be a source of support for all poor and marginalized women. The bishop thanked the President of Streebandhu, the Chief Executive Officer of Streebandhu and the entire team of Streebandhu for their dedicated hard work and commitment.
Mr A. R. Prasanna Kumar, in his address noted that Streebandhu is one among a few best Co-operatives in Shimoga. Irrespective of caste and creed, Streebandhu has included all women who are socially and economically poor. Because of the support that is provided to economically poor women, Streebandhu has a name in the society. Mr Jagadeesha and Mr Devadan introduced the Chief guests to the participants. Mrs Jyothi B.C. compered the programme.
The Annual General Body Meeting ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs Vathsala Padmavathi, one of the directors of the Streebandhu. Lunch was served to all the members and the students who participated in the meeting. A total of 635 people participated in the Annual General Body Meeting and the programme that followed.
