Chaitanya, November 19, 2023: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, Shimoga organized Sneha Koota, Unnati Scholarship Students’ Meet on 19 November 2023 in Chaitanya Shimoga. 53 participants participated in the event and benefitted from the program. The program of the day began at 9.30 AM with prayer and words of welcome. In his introductory talk, the Director, Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto explained the purpose of Sneha Koota and noted that gatherings such as these should bring more and more people together to share and learn from each other’s experiences. Internet may offer written solutions for modern problems but cannot provide happiness and peace of mind that is needed in life. Dr Aravind S. T., Psychiatrist and De-Addiction Specialist, Positive Mind Hospital, Shimoga, was the resource person for the first session of the day. He addressed the gathering on how to cope with situations that lead one to depression or loneliness. Because of the changing lifestyle and various other factors people sometimes prefer lonely life and a prolonged lonely life or privacy can lead people to depression. In such situations, the affected person needs proper counseling and if need arises, suitable medical treatment.
After the Tea Break at 11.00 AM, and the Ice-breaking session that followed, Dr Aishwarya Aravind, Counselor and Admin. Head, Positive Mind Hospital, Shimoga during the second session of the day enlightened the participants on how to be happy in life. Through several examples she emphasized the importance of aiming high in life and working hard to reach that height. Expressing gratitude and becoming sensitive to the needs of others should become a part of one’s life. The participants clarified several of their doubts.
Rev. Fr Ronald D’Cunha, the Procurator of the Diocese celebrated the Holy Eucharist. In his homily he stressed the importance of putting into best use all the talents God has given to each one of us. A team of 3 boys and 3 girls were selected and assigned the task to plan out next year’s Sneha Koota. The participants appreciated both the sessions. The event came to an end with the sumptuous dinner 2.15 PM. The entire ICDP staff team was involved in meticulously planning the event. The director thanked everyone for their active participation and wished them all the very best for all their future endeavours.
