Shimoga, July 22, 2024: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society along with the Streebandhu Federation Abbalagere celebrated environment day at the premises of Abbalagere Gram Panchayat on 22 July 2024 at 11:30 AM. The main purpose of the event was to promote eco-friendly measures. The director of SMSSS, Fr Pius D'Souza, Gram Panchayat President Mrs Devamma, Panchayat Development Officer Mr Rajappa, Nodal Officer Mr Raghavendra, Gram Panchayat members Mrs Nirmala, Mrs Manjula, Mrs Sujata and President of Streebandhu Federation Mrs Vedavathi were the guests of honour.
The director of SMSSS explained in details the purpose of the celebration of environment day in this present scenario where climate change and global warming is affecting the nature very badly. He motivated the participants to promote eco-friendly measures to save nature and to live a healthy life. Panchayat Development Officer Mr Rajappa appreciated the programme and requested the participants to nurture the plants that are planted. He urged them to take care of the saplings that are planted so that they can grow on their own further. He assured that the Gram Panchayat will provide necessary help to save the plants.
Nodal Officer Mr Raghavendra informed about the vast spread of Dengue disease and its prevention measures. He also spoke about Flood Relief measures and Government Schemes available in the Panchayat.
The president of Gram Panchayat and the president of Streebandhu Federation appreciated the support given by the Gram Panchayat to avail the schemes as well as for growing saplings.
155 members of the federation participated in the programme. Coordinator Mrs Pramila and Animator Mrs Theresa Sanctis organised the programme.
