On September 27 and 28, 2024 Staff orientation and Capacity building session was held at Chaitanya, the Centre for Social Action, Diocese of Shimoga. On Friday, 27th September 2024, the meeting commenced with a brief input session by the following Animators for a duration of three minutes each:
1.Ms Vinayaraj -Time Management
2.Ms Malini- Social Awareness and Commitment
3.Ms Carmel-Social issues.
After each input session, evaluation was done of the work done by the centre and teams. During this session the staff was given positive appreciation for the wonderful work done and suggestions were placed before the team for possible improvements along with guidelines for the future.
A seminar on Self Confidence was conducted by Mr Shamukha. He explained with video presentation the need of self-confidence in our life at every step and how to utilise it practically in our work. He presented the team with lot of information and practical example and how it is essential in our social work particularly when presented with challenging tasks. It was thought provoking session and the Staff appreciated it.
After this session the Federation Report Presentation was done and the members assembled in three smaller groups. The evaluation of the report continued during the session. After this the meeting for the day concluded with consolidation of Federation Report and with a word of gratitude from the Director. It was a very informative and sharing session.
On Saturday 28th September 2024 began with the input sessions presented by:
1. Mrs Bhanupriya on Right to information act
2. Ms Jayasheela on Equality
3. Gangamma - Upbringing of children by their parents
The session on RTI was very informative telling all to be aware and at the same time cautious about the Right to Information. It is a healthy material in our hands to utilise with utmost care. The session on the upbringing of children was very practical and the group was given the practical understanding to guide the parents in this great task and how we as Social Workers could guide them.
This was followed by a half day Training Session on Personal Finance Management by Dr Maria Pramila. In her presentation she elaborated on the benefits of right way of managing our hard-earned money in the right way and at right time. She also advised the participants to have Health Policies and Retirement Plan necessary for each individual and family. She also shared information on the various Safety Saving Schemes available both at the Government level and Private Schemes. It was a very practical and useful session.
As per the regular practice of celebrating birthdays in common the members celebrated the birthdays of the month of September. Chaithanya celebrated the birthday of Ms Baby, Ms Jayasheela, Ms Philomena, Ms Vinayaraj and Ms Gloria Jyothi. Ms Stella Mary raised the toast on the occasion and spoke words of appreciation about each one of them.
After the vote of thanks the Director presented his evaluation of the day appreciating the warm participation from each individual. He appreciated the spirit of participation and healthy sharing that took place in the past two days.
