The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society® (SMSSS) under the project Integrated Child Development Programme conducted One-day camp at Sagar on 5.10.2024, along with parents.  There were 130 parents and 125 children from 1st grade to Degree and above were present for the camp.

Rev. Fr Vinuth Balu Kumar, the assistant parish priest of Sagar Parish, inaugurated the children’s camp. He was accompanied by Mr. Jagadeesh K.H., the Project Coordinator and resource person, along with other dignitaries on the dais. Mrs Mary Martha arranged the inauguration in a creative way highlighting the important topics of the day. It was well appreciated by all.

Mr. Jagadish KH conducted sessions on self-confidence and the basic concepts of women Self-Help Groups, women’s federations, and the Stri Bandu Co-operative. He concluded the session with a video presentation on self-confidence, which was appreciated by the parents.

Fr. Pius D’Souza, the Executive Director of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, shared important information on the care of adolescents and teens in the AI world. He also emphasized transforming beneficiaries into benefactors by saving “ONE RUPEE” a day and sharing it with students in need.

Special achievements of ICDP Children

  1. Oliviya Pereire won a silver medal in an international karate contest.
  2. Chris Floyd Nazareth, a 9th grader, secured 1st place in volleyball at the district level from St. Joseph School, Sagar.
  3. Daniel D’Souza, a 9th grader, secured 1st place in district-level cricket from St. Joseph English Medium School, Mankale.
  4. Vinitha Rodrigues secured first place in throwball.
  5. Merlin Lopes won in both the throwball and badminton tournaments.
  6. Adlin Mary Fernandes won in the football match.
  7. Preetham D’Souza, a 7th grader, secured 2nd place in throwball at the state level.
  8. Arnold D’Souza, a 7th grader, secured 2nd place in kho-kho.
  9. Srusti R secured distinction in drawing.
  10. Pearl Yashwina Nazareth secured distinction in drawing.
